Shannon Marie
I was Born July 2, 1972, and lived for 25 years in Plaquemines Parish in a
city called Braithwaite, a city most people have never heard of although
everybody who lives there knows everybody else. I currently live in the
Greater New Orleans area with my husband, who is also my best friend. I have
a beautiful step-daughter named Kelsey and my baby is a Maltese named
Sophie.
I began painting in 1999 and soon after realized that my passion was in
abstract art. I have always loved to be creative, and to make things
interesting to look at. Whether it is through flowers in my garden, wrapping
on a present or paint on a canvas, I love to express myself in a way that
says “Wow”. I have spent a lot of time admiring the works of local artists,
which has influenced my style. I began painting for self-gratification and
gave most of my art away to friends, family and charitable fundraisers. When
I realized that others wanted to own my pieces I decided to call myself an
“artist” and began spending more time with my paint. The garage of my house
is my studio, which allows me to retreat to a peaceful place with the sounds
of waterfalls and birds in my back yard. Although I still paint for the
feeling I get after the final touch that completes a work of art, the idea
that it will be in another art lover’s possession one day brings a whole new
reason for my creativity.
